KAINAAZ PARVEES HOT AND ANGRY

BY FLYNN REMEDIOS

I am going to f**k them!!!”

“I will sue them for damages and causing me unduedistress, mental harassment, torture and financial damages.”

"Maybe, they dumped me because I refused to sleep with one of them….!!!!!”

BOLLYwood's latest sensation, Kainaaz Parvees is livid. The actress was unceremoniously and overnight kicked out of theCinevistaa production, Paalkhi, which airs on Zee. Ask her about the incident where she was replaced in Paalkhi by Nazneen (the lead in Pancham) without any reason and she spits venom like a king cobra about to spring. I am going to f**k them, she screams on the phone. I won’t let them get away so easily.

The otherwise Khamosh actress has just received a notice today (28thSept) from Cinevista terminating her agreement with them. And this has got her further upset. Says Kainaaz, “As per our agreement they are supposed to give me an advance notice of at least one month prior to terminating me in the serial. But they auditioned for a replacement even while I was shooting for their project. And not only that, they called this girl (who incidently is Kainaaz’s friend) and told her that they would pay her double of what they were paying me to take my place. Since she knew me, she was hesitant to take up my part. At the same time she thought that it was I who also wanted out as I was busy with other bigger projects. So she went ahead and signed on with them to replace me.”

All this right behind my back – while they were promising me good publicity and praising my performance and abilities – they were auditioning withsomeone else to replace me.
And now to add insult to injury they send me this back dated letter…..The letter signed by Sunil Mehta, vice chairman and MDof Cinevistaa, is dated 14th Sept 2005 and says that she has been replaced as of episode No 51 and hence the agreement stands terminated. However, Kainaaz got the letter only fourteen days later on the 28th ofSeptember. In fact, when we met her a day before at a photo session in an Andheri studio she said, “Mr SunilMehta is such a gentleman, if he wanted to replace me for the good of his project, I wish he had to at least tell me nicely and in advance.

And as fate would have it, the next morning, she receives the back-dated letter much much after she was thrown out. “As per my agreement with them, they should have informed me a month in advance, before terminating me, giving adequate reasons for doing so, but they informmed months after they have terminated my services and that too without any reason.”

“I was promised a leading role in which I would get as much publicity as Karishma Tanna and Abhay Vakil. But I was not featured in the initial publicity and titlesong. When I spoke to the creative head and others, they told me that eventually I would get good mileage and publicity.” I agreed to do this negative role only because they promised me good publicity, even better than the others in the cast. In fact I was cautioned by several people in the industry that Cinevistaas are very very bad paymasters and I should work with them only if they paid me either in advance or on a shoot to shoot basis.

However, I dis-regarded this advice by well meaning individuals and went ahead with the agreement.Incidentally, they paid me regularly during theinitial stages. But now almost 60 per cent of my dues are outstanding, she adds. At least they should have sent the outstanding payment along with the termination letter, says Kaainaaz, who is talking to her lawyers right now.

I was on really good terms with everyone. I didn’t have problems with anyone. Neither with the producer(Sunil Mehta) nor with Charu Shah who is called Chow by all in the unit. I went out of my way to be nice to people. Kainaaz is very bitter and complains – it doesn’t pay to go out of your way and be good to people. They f**k you behind your back,” she says.

Kainaaz who has lived most of her life in Canada, came to India about four years ago to join Bollywood. Her first small screen experience in India was Babul KiDujayen Leti Jaa, which was quickly followed by GharEk Mandir, Mehendi Tere Naam Ki, Des Mein Niklla HogaChand and Dial 100 on Sab TV. She hit Bollywood with Escape from Talibaan followed which was followed by Deepak Tijori’s thriller Khamosh also starring the voluptuous Rakhi Sawant. Kainaaz who also worked as a secretary and then a detective in Canada before coming to India, also did a detective serial called CID. Kainaaz will soon be seen in the Ram Gopal Vermastarer Mr ya Mrs opposite Aftab Shivdasani , RiteshDeshmukh and Antara Mali and Shyam Ramsay’s Ghutan.
She has also worked in Jai Prakash’s Sauda and asouth-based director-producer Rajgopalan’s film called Boys and GirlsKainaazs’ problem with Cinevistaa began when she informed her producer that she would be a little tied up due to commitments with her other projects. “I only requested them to be a little flexible with dates,” she says.
In fact, I was the one who was much more than flexible. I went out of my way to accommodate them and they f***ed me behind my back, says the furious cat. Since I was shooting for other bigger projects, I only requested them to intimate me in advance as to schedules and dates. In April since they said they would need more of my time, I didn’t take up any new projects. But they didn’t utilize me and I signed on a couple of new projects which took off inMay and June. Kainaaz had signed on Jai Prakash’sSauda, Ramsay’s Ghutan and Ram Gopal Varma’s Mr Ya Miss and she had to juggle her shooting schedules to accommodate all of them which seemed to clash all the time. I had to really plan my schedule says Kainnaaz, who carries a palm top is very computer and net savvy and very very professional. I planned my schedules immaculately, but they (Cinevistaa) just kept changing the dates.

This also caused me financial losses as I was sitting there doing nothing, waiting for them, andlosing out on the other projects I had already signed and could have worked on. I had so much other work coming my way, but I kept myself available for them and lost out a lot of money. Kainaaz was also shooting for Raj Sippy’s Khujli. I even cancelled my shooting schedules for the Sippy film, she says since Cinevistaa wanted to create a bank. They fixed the schedules and then cancelled them at the last minute. Out of the blue, one fine day while I was shooting atPanvel, Chow just called me up on my cell and told me that I had been replaced by someone else. When I told her that this was very unprofessional, she said it was best for the project.

When asked what could the reasons be, she says that probably one of them wanted more out of me, making a reference to the casting couch syndrome. “Maybe they wanted more than merely good performance on the sets. Or probably the creative head was insecure with me around. She felt I was getting too big for my boots.” Charu Shah, the creative head who Kainaaz claims is responsible for nixing her, didn’t do her job well andwhen I pointed that out to the producer, she saw to it that I was dropped over night.

Apparently, once the producer asked Kainaaz (and others present atthe sets that day) if the creative head visited thesets. “Since the program was getting a little jerky and abrupt, I told him (Sunil Mehta) that Chow should come more often or pay a little more attention to theprogram. Maybe that was what bugged her. However, what surprises Kainaaz is that Sunil Mehta was much in favour of her performance and continuity in the program. “I was in regular contact with him during the shooting and he never once expressed any displeasure or disagreement of any sort.

He was always positive about my role and ability to deliver and suddenly Sunil just changed.” Chow was insecure and thought I was trying to teach her a thing or two, which was never the case says, slams Kainaaz.

According to Kainaaz she was treated badly right from the start. They had a press conference where they didn’t even make a mention of me, while others (Karishma Tanna and Abhay Vakil) were tom-tommed all over the place. I kept reminding them of their promises and commitment to me and they kept assuring me that I would get real good publicity and mileage in due course.

Ironically it seems that this is the publicity they spoke about…. The ditching and the controversy associated with her sudden, unceremonious and unethical exit.
